Games Involving Fitness & Teamwork (GIFT) Carnival August 2009

Sunday, August 16, 2009

It had been a long week, and it was because of the GIFT Carnival. The day started as early as 0700hrs for all AV Crew members. With the briefing that was conducted past Thursday, it was made clear what each and everyone's task was for the event.

There were a total of 4 different places which require AV Support.
  1. Assembly Area (Netball Court) - Equipment by vendor
  2. Concourse - Equipment by vendor
  3. School Hall - School Equipment
  4. Rock Wall - School Outdoor PA System
It was absolutely important that each and every AV Crew member knew what was expected of them on that day. Communicating via the walkie talkies, the senior members (Alif, Hamkah, Sulaiman & Najib) helped to ensure that things went smoothly for every venue.

Manning 4 different venues at the same time was no easy feat. It took a lot of effort, coordination and understanding of each other's role. Another key factor was of course, the manpower that was needed in order to be able to fulfil the requirement of supporting all 4 venues simultaneously.

Nonetheless, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all AV CREW members who turned up for duty for the Carnival. They are;
  1. Muhammad Alif 8. Ming Yan
  2. Hamkah 9. Jun Xuan
  3. Muhd Sulaiman 10. Xian Jun
  4. Abdul Najib 11. Nicholas
  5. Muhd Azmi 12. Nor Ameerul
  6. Muhd Hidayat 13. Syafiqah
  7. Lucas Chow 14. Wei Xiang
As for the other members who could not make it for the event, it is okay. There will be other events and try not to miss it as the experience garnered from supporting these events, will help to build you into an AV CREW specialist.

Before I end this post, I would like to remind all AV CREW members to be diligent in their studies, and conscientiously prepare for the upcoming Common Test 2. Should anyone of you require any extra help or face any difficulties in your studies, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Rahim.

That's all for now. Tata! ('o,')

Up and Running Again! ('o,')

Monday, June 8, 2009

Hello readers, we are finally back updating after a few months of silence.

Firstly, We are pleased to have our new AV Crew members, from the Secondary 1. To our new AV members, I would like to take this chance to explain to you, the duties that are normally entrusted as an AV crew in Springfield Secondary School.

Your primary and most important duty is;

1) To support the many different school events like the daily morning assembly, fortnightly school assembly, Speech Day, National Day celebrations, Teachers' Day and many other events that will require the use of Audio & Visual support.

2) Other than that, as an AV Crew member, you are expected to have the initiative to assist your teachers in setting up the AV equipments in class. For instance, connecting the laptop to the projector, or visualizer and projector.

3) Besides AV equipment, you will also be extending your service to maintain the IT equipment all around the school. From troubleshooting simple technical problems relating to the printers and computers in the lab, to learning the fundamentals of maintaining a computer system. By the time you graduate, installing and uninstalling of sofware will be like second nature
to you.

4) There will be AV Crew activity on Tuesdays & Thursdays every week. Do check with the seniors and myself for more information. We will have training and servicing on Tuesdays and with enough members on Thursdays, we will conduct Physical Training and play games after that.

EXPECTATIONS IN AVA CLUB

  • Must be disciplined at all times (during school hours and also while on duty)
  • Always be punctual for your AV duties. Bring your AV pass when reporting for duties.
  • Respect your peers, and teachers at all times.
  • Whenever in doubt, do not be afraid to ask.
  • If you are going to be late or absent for your duty, inform your teacher-in-charge. Otherwise, you must at least inform a fellow AV Crew member or senior.
  • Always be proactive when you see teachers who are in need of your assistance in any difficulties pertaining to IT/AV matters
  • Personal grooming is a lifelong skill that will be progressively trained to the members.

Adios 2008, Hola 2009!

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

It feels like it was just yesterday that we had the Sec 1 students joining the AV Crew. However, as of 12 midnight yesterday evening, people the world over bade farewell to 2008 and ushered in 2009. It was no different here in Singapore and in Springfield Secondary School too.

As we look back on the year that had passed, there were countless memories that we had together; some cherished, while some are better left forgotten. Some of our experiences were no doubt, sweet. On the other hand, some of the things that we had gone through were not so pleasant.

Time really flies!

Let us take a quick trip down Memory Lane and list down the events which the AV Crew had supported in the past year.

Secondary 1 Registration, CCA Fair Day, Chinese New Year Celebrations, Speech Day, Sec 2 Post Exam Activities (Pet Rocket), Visits from Foreign Delegates, Let's Rock, GIFT Carnival, Teachers' Day Celebrations, National Day Celebrations, Graduation Day, Hari Raya Celebrations, Speed Painting Competition, Springfield Military Band ROD Ceremony, GCE 'N' & 'O' Levels Results, Parents & Teachers Meeting, not forgetting the daily morning PA support, and the assemblies every fortnightly.

Most of you, when given a task, you could carry it out well and sometimes even exceed my own expectations. Especially to the seniors, you have been rendering your time and effort selflessly to the AV Crew and I would like to sincerely thank you for everything that you have contributed. You deserve a pat on the back.

We are now at the starting line of 2009 and there will be many hurdles ahead of us. You have to be strong to stay on track and head towards your goals. Hold steadfast onto our principles and beliefs. Do not make the same mistakes that you did last year.

Play your role as a student, as a son, as a friend, and as an AV Crew, to the best of your abilities.

Finally, let us make Year 2009 an even better year than Year 2008!

Sec 1 Registration; Done & Dusted!

Friday, December 19, 2008

I would like to thank all AV Crew members who turned up today for duty. They are,
  1. Muhammad Alif
  2. Hamkah
  3. Ameerul
  4. Muhammad Fadhil
  5. Lucas Chow

Not forgetting, Zulqarnaen, who rendered help and assistance even though he is not a member of the AV Crew.

Overall, the whole event went smoothly, albeit some minor issues like the powerpoint not made to be on Auto-Run, the volume of the speakers fluctuating on one occassion and when the white wireless microphone ran out of power and needed to change the battery.

Other than that, I am very satisfied with the performance of the AV Crew.

What made me even more pleased was when Miss Tan CH approached me and told me about how much she appreciated the assistance of the AV Crew in matters which were unrelated to AV support.

In her own words, she said "Your AV boys are so helpful and responsible. They are really good and I am proud of them."

I am delighted to know that my AV Crew members heed the advices that I always give to them and conduct themselves in a manner which is laudable.

You have brought good name and reputation to both yourself and the AV Crew. I am proud of you! Keep it up! ('o,')

I am looking forward to the next event on next year's calendar; CCA Orientation Day!
